As a long in the tooth teacher and sewing obsessive, it’s only fair that I share the love and offer sewing lessons.
I was desperate for somewhere to go and learn how to sew when I first started and all I could find were over-priced adult education classes, where you still had to go along with a project and share a tutor with a room of people from “beginners to advanced”. They forget that starting from scratch is one big hurdle when you don’t know ANYTHING about sewing, nor can many of us pop to our local haberdashers to ask!
Yes, Youtube and Google will tell you everything. But sometimes, it’s just more effective to talk to a real person and be shown what it all means.
Teaching is my day job, so I am adept at explaining things carefully and in a logical order. I also have endless patience and can explain the same things in several different ways to suit the person in front of me. From my teaching so far, once we get going, it’s a pretty good chatting session too (i’m a bit of an accidental and unqualified life coach!)
I have enhanced DBS check (all clear!), public liability insurance and can work with all ages, though I’d say 8 is probably the youngest for sewing on machines. Yes, my five year old has her own machine, but she literally grew up on my lap while I was sewing.
